Walktober

It’s the perfect time to get moving with River’s Way!

Walktober is a campaign that encourages the community to prioritize their health by walking regularly. This push is led by the River’s Way Game Changers. The Game Changers are a group of young adults with differing abilities that are highly involved with River’s Way programs. The Game Changers will be stepping up their walking game throughout the month of October to prepare for Walktober!

The Game Changers influence hundreds of students in local schools as leaders in River’s Way walking programs. River’s Way works with over 1000 students of all abilities each year in local elementary, middle, and high schools. The Game Changers are living proof that if they can prioritize their health and walk regularly, so can you! They often walk between 5-10 miles each day in these programs.

From our outdoor adventure roots, to our focus on community involvement and betterment, River’s Way has always promoted active lifestyles for people with differing abilities. Mental and physical health are two major issues in our region, and this is also true for the disabled community. We feel that walking is a simple solution to these issues, and one way we can make a difference in our community.

We Contribute. We Belong.

At River’s Way, we create opportunities for people of all abilities to shine, and we believe people of all abilities play a valuable role in our community. Walktober provides an opportunity for the youth and young adults in our programs to improve their mental/physical health by walking and simultaneously inspiring the community at large to do the same. After all, we feel that walking is the most accessible, inclusive, and inexpensive form of physical activity out there.

From our outdoor adventure roots to our focus on community betterment, River’s Way has always promoted active lifestyles for people with differing abilities. People of all abilities can work hard, play hard and contribute. At River’s Way, we create opportunities for people of all abilities to shine, and we believe people of all abilities belong in our community.
